We are proud to own and manage some of the oldest vineyards in British Columbia, growing the best quality vinifera grapes on our estate vineyards in the Okanagan Valley, Golden Mile Bench and Similkameen Valley.
THE OLD RECENT
The name Mt. Boucherie refers to the extinct volcano that is the geologic landmark of West Kelowna in the sun soaked Okanagan Valley. Last active during the Paleocene (or the “Old Recent”) it once rose over 2000 meters high before being eroded by glaciation to its current height of 417 meters above the lake. The soils which were created by this scouring glacial activity are those on which we grow today.
Mt. Boucherie Estate was established as a grape growing business in 1968 with the winery following in 2001. Vineyards were planted in the Okanagan and Similkameen Valleys from the 1960’s and with more being planted today. The holdings today are over 300 acres.
The winery and vineyards were purchased from the original owners in 2016 with the vision of continuing this historic BC wine company with fresh energy, resources, and ideas. 25% of the vineyards are now being replanted, and a new winery is being built and slated to open in the fall of 2019.
Our mission is to express this amazing land by crafting distinctive wines that draw on low yields, honest winemaking, and patient aging.
FINESSE & ELEGANCE ABOVE POWER
Mt. Boucherie wines are made in three distinct tiers. Our white label wines are made in a crisp, refreshing style meant for early consumption.
The Reserves are aged for 12 – 22 months in barrel and are meant to age gracefully in your cellar.
Summit and Contessa are the pinnacle of our efforts showcasing the best blocks and barrels from our 200 acres of vines.
